About Us

Little Green Panda pattern design

Our Story

Little Green Panda is an innovative socially responsible company born out of the need to solve the guilty sipping problem. Those pesky plastic straws are harming marine life and sitting in our landfills for centuries. Our mission is to eradicate this problem for both businesses and individuals worldwide through plant-based innovations.

Little Green Panda was formed with the sole purpose of leaving a positive footprint on our environment. We have but one planet and it’s in trouble. Our interest was piqued due to the now overwhelming evidence of human impact on our habitat along with the knowledge that 1/3rd of all rubbish found in our water systems are non-bio degradable plastics.

A supplier of plant-based straws to businesses and individuals worldwide, we originally started with beautiful bamboo drinking straws and our range expanded with the increasing demand. We manufacture our straws with minimal to no plastic.

We work very closely with several farming communities and maintain a socially ethical and cooperative relationship with the locals, providing them with employment and financial assistance to better the lives in these remote villages across Asia.

So far, we have found the solution in natural materials provided by mother nature such as bamboo, wheat & sugarcane.— We are currently experimenting with a few other plant-based materials as well!

We’ve designed a reusable bamboo straw that anyone can be proud to use: stylish, functional, healthy and sustainable.  And we’re tackling the mass commercial use of plastic and paper straws by offering disposable wheat and sugarcane straws in their place made from agricultural waste.

We are super proud to be part of the worldwide movement to reduce plastic pollution! Let’s take the first step towards a plastic-free life together and sip sustainably! Cheers!

The Problem With Plastic Straws

Health issues

Plastic contains harmful toxins – such as BPA – that leach into food and drink and enters the body, affecting your health. A US study reported that over 92% of the people they tested had detectable levels of plastic chemicals in their bodies (including babies)!
Pollution issues
Plastic straws have been designed to be used for minutes, and then immediately be thrown away. And plastic takes up to thousands of years to break down. With over 7 billion people on the planet, we use A LOT of them, and the more we use, the more we pollute.
Wildlife issues

It’s no mystery that plastic has serious environmental hazards. It is not only incredibly wasteful for the planet, but also dangerous for wildlife. Some straws drift out to sea, harming marine life and joining the other 5 trillion pieces of plastic debris in the ocean.

We think it’s fun drinking straight from a stalk! Little Green Panda straws require very little manufacturing as they are simply bamboo stems cut to length. 100% handmade responsibly in different regions of Asia, they are also hand-polished. Wheat Straws

A byproduct of wheat production, no additional cropland is required as the farmers already grow it for the food industry. Once the plant reaches maturity and turns golden yellow, the grain goes into food production. The stalks are hand-harvested and sorted before being cut and made into hay for animal fodder and, in our case, straws.
The Wheat Straw is made from the stem of the wheat plant. Non-toxic and biodegradable is a safe and eco-friendly single-use alternative to plastic straws. Perfect for hot or cold drinks, wheat straws also get points for not getting soggy.

Facts about wheat

  • 100% compostable
  • Vegan
  • Gluten-free SGS Certified
  • Taste-free
  • Soggy-free
